abstract
A compelling documentary on Black and Lantino Drag Queen in Harlem. It's a striking look at how trying to get a piece of the American Dream continues to plague us all, most especially those who live on the fringes of mainstream culture. Discovering how the marginalized men in this footage spend their lives dressing up and living the alter egos that they have created for themselves. Which tells us as much about ourselves as it does about this small segment of society. True, drag queens are an unique subculture here, but if you walk into the threatre expecting to disapprove of them, chances are you'll will walk out with your foot in your mouth and your heart in your hand. Even the stingiest heart cannot help but feel moved by this film.
