abstract
Novel about a trip round the world in the late nineteenth century by two young women, a Canadian and an Englishwoman. After crossing Canada on the Canadian Pacific Railway they sail to Japan, then on to Ceylon and India, and then to Europe via the Suez Canal, stopping off in Egypt on the way. The Japanese and Indian experiences are described in detail.
