This documentary was first broadcast in Chinese on TVB Jade Network.
Looks at the price China pays for its high speed economic development. Shows the records Wei Dongying, a resident of Wuli Cun on the outskirt of Hangzhou, Zhejiang, kept of the illegal discharge by a local chemical plant that has polluted the nearby river. Many of the villagers have died of cancer. Wei criticizes the government for sacrificing the people for economic advances. Shows also how a doctor Zhang Changjian of Xiping Cun, in Pingnan Xian, Fujian, successfully sued a local chemical plant for pollution. He says government officials with shares in the plant is a problem.
