general note
Animation Hothouse. ;kk ;Animation Studio.
Combining stop-motion puppet and drawn animation, Don't Blink observes a young woman, somewhat forlorn on a Halifax dock, whose loneliness is lifted by the passing of an otherworldly fishing trawler. A metaphor on the connectedness of water, and water's capacity as a medium of freedom. Take six promising animation filmmakers from across Canada, plant them in the NFB's English Animation Studio, give them 12 weeks to create extremely short animation from concept to release with the full support and assistance of NFB creative experts and, voilà, the NFB Animation Hothouse! This is a practical prototype to both "talk the talk" of theory, and "walk the walk" of actually doing it.
