A Look Inside
Full Text Reviews
Appeared in Choice on 1995-11:
Reviewing a volume of "Dictionary of Literary Biography" is a little like reviewing Encyclopaedia Britannica; the series itself is so basic that the occasional weak article or inclusion/exclusion of a specific author seems almost pointless. The overall effect of the series is the important question, and this volume helps overcome a serious lack of analysis in English, complementing v. 113 (Modern Latin-American Fiction Writers, First Series, 1992). Even for libraries that do not subscribe to the series, a volume like this, which gives concise information on contemporary Latin American authors, is a good buy--especially for libraries serving Hispanic populations. For academic libraries, the DLB series is an indispensable resource. D. R. Brown; DePaul University
