The chapters on the perinaeum, p. 1-80, were originally published as The surgical anatomy of the perinaeum. London, 1838; chapters on the groin, thigh, popliteal region and hip joint, p. [81]-207, were originally published as The surgical anatomy of the groin, the femoral, and popliteal regions. London, 1839; chapters on inguinal herniae and the testis, p. [209]-330, were originally published as The surgical anatomy of inguinal herniae, the testis and its coverings. London, 1841. The works published from 1838-1841 were by Morton alone. The chapters on the head and neck, axilla, bend of the elbow, and radial and ulnar arteries of the wrist, were completed by Cadge after Morton's death.
The plates are hand-coloured lithographs, drawn by William Fairland.
