Review Quotes
In the past most books on Persian art and architecture have been either so superficial as to be of little value or else so scholarly as to be of no interest to the layman. Mr. Wilber's book meets both these criticisms favorably and should prove of interest to a wide audience.

Summaries
Main Description
This study traces the history of gardens in Iran from the earliest remains of the Timurid period to those of the Qajar dynasty of the nineteenth century. Illustrations from early travel books and paintings show the original conditions of now ruined gardens.
