A Look Inside
Full Text Reviews
Appeared in Library Journal on 1988-03-01:
Interest in early childhood education has been precipitated by the increase in working parents, the media's popularization of research findings, and the push for excellence. The 12 well-written and -documented articles in this collection, by 11 educational authorities, analyze the issues and alternatives. Two of the contributors oppose early education; others cite research studies that support its value. One points out the special needs of the black child. Several describe successful programs. Intended to explore complex issues rather than to provide definitive answers, this will aid educators, administrators, and parents considering this crucial issue. Shirley L. Hopkinson, Lib . & Information Science Div., California State Univ., San Jose
