abstract
Since September 1939 Warsaw has been controlled by German troops who have sown violence and terror among the population. In the summer of 1944, the proximity of Russian army, inflames the spirits of the youngest, who initiate an uprising against the Germans. Stefan joins one of the rebel groups, where he meets Biedronka, who falls madly in love. From that moment Stefan must choose to place his love and that of his own family that he feels for Warsaw, a city that in two months sees its streets literally flooded by the blood of more than 200,000 dead and 83 percent of its buildings destroyed.
