abstract
The scene is in a garden where are standing a young lady and gentleman, the latter with a golden-winged butterfly alighted on the back of his hand. The lady wears a loose-sleeved yellow coat, with white undersleeves, and a deep red skirt, and a small blue and white cap on her brown curly head. In her hand she carries a butterfly net. Her companion wears a blue coat with lace ruffles, a white silk cravat and a flowered waistcoat, and in his left hand holds his three-cornered hat. Standing before them is a greyhound with a golden collar, and to their right is a large carved stone vase filled with yellow flowers, over which flutter two butterflies.
